Songs of the Year 2021

Here’s a Spotify playlist of my songs of the year.

I strongly urge you to buy albums from the artists on the playlist that you particularly like. Wherever possible do please buy from the artist direct through their website, Bandcamp, at a gig or through an independent record store.

There are quite understandably some artists who feature in my songs of the year who don’t wish to put their music up on Spotify. I wholly support that and the #BrokenRecord campaign hence my recommendation to buy albums from the artists after discovery their music through the playlist.

I’ve added links to the artists I haven’t been able to include in the list below, where I’ve been able to find a YouTube video.

Matt Hill – King of Liars
Jezz Hellard & The Djukella Orchestra – Foodbanks & Ferraris
Malcolm MacWatt (featuring Jaimee Harris) – Avalanche & Landslide

Albums of the year to come….

Amazingly it’s nearly that time of year again. The music press are publishing their albums of 2021.

I did my stand outs from the first 6 months of the year in July.

The full list I plan to post in late November.

In the meantime keep a look out for my songs of the year over the next few days.

I may create a Spotify playlist for these with the strong suggestion that if you enjoy what you hear please buy copies of the albums, wherever possible direct from the artists website, via their Bandcamp page, a gig or an independent record shop.

Pause on live shows

Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control, 9 November’s show will be the last live broadcast of the Quiet Revolution for a while. HFM is making some temporary changes, similar to last year, whereby live programmes conclude at 6pm.

Hopefully, it will be possible in the not to distant future to record some shows for broadcast in my usual fortnightly slot on Tuesday.

I’ll keep you updated both here and on Twitter.
